Client Design Goals
The client desired a vibrant, child-friendly design for the website, prioritizing easy access to information for parents and guardians seeking answers about their child’s development. Additionally, the design aimed to effectively highlight their marketing initiatives for donations.
Design Choices
PCD operates multiple schools catering to children with disabilities alongside standard child care and pre-school services. In order to emphasize the distinctiveness of each program, the client and I opted to assign a unique color from their palette to each program. As depicted in the images below, we utilized Navy for the Anderson School and Orange for the Woodbridge School while maintaining a consistent layout for both pages.

Challenges
This project presented numerous challenges, including mid-project branding changes, a client with evolving design preferences and needs, and constantly evolving programs.
Throughout the design phase, the client actively participated in the decision-making process, providing valuable insights. While this hands-on approach had its benefits in understanding the client’s exact requirements, the frequent requests for changes posed challenges by limiting certain design choices that could have enhanced the overall site.
The development stage faced additional hurdles with the school implementing program changes that required multiple alterations to the site’s layout. Despite occasional frustrations, I successfully navigated through these challenges, ultimately delivering a visually stunning website that not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations. The end result achieved the primary goal of improving wayfinding for parents and guardians visiting the site, showcasing the adaptability and resilience of the design process.
